What is the Scout Fellowship? What does it do? Who can join? Why should I join? What’s in it for me? What can I do to help? These are some of the questions I have heard since becoming Fellowship chairman.
Please allow me to explain not all, but a little about the Scout Fellowship, which I trust you will find of interest.
What is the Fellowship: I consider it to be a "club" for adults who believe in the objectives of the Scout movement.
What do we do: We make ourselves available to all the Scout Groups in the District to assist them in whatever is requested, if we are qualified to do so. We also have an active social life that is not always to do with Scouting!
Who can join: If you are eighteen plus you can join, subject to all the usual approvals.
Why should I join: Well you don’t have to but, if like me, you believe that the youngsters today deserve as much help as they can get then please come and help us to help them.
What’s in it for me: In some ways that will be up to you, what I can promise is a varied social calendar and the opportunity of meeting many new friends in and out of Scouting. You may also recapture some of your youth!
What can I do to help: Do not underestimate your own talents, I believe that everybody has useful skills to pass on and you need only give an hour or two each month.
Therefore if you: - Are willing to help Scouting and enjoy a social atmosphere?
Are new to the Scout Movement?
Are retired from uniformed Scouting but still want to be involved.
Maybe you are already an established Scout Leader.
